Considering
the importance of the data from a location near the
fringe of the equatorial electrojet, Magnetic Observatory
at Pondicherry was established in January 1993 as
replacement for the Annamalainagar Observatory which
was operating since the IGY 1957, and wound up due
to technical reasons. This Observatory is situated
in the University Campus of Pondicherry.
